Cost of quality in Dubai: An analytical case study of residential construction projects
نویسندگان
چکیده
In a city like Dubai, where one of the biggest and fastest growing construction markets in the world exists, the need to estimate the cost of quality in the construction projects becomes a vital task. This research used the prevention–appraisal–failure (PAF) model to evaluate the cost of quality (CoQ) and to determine its optimum value – the level of quality that minimizes the total CoQ – for the residential construction projects in Dubai. The results revealed that the CoQ in such projects in Dubai represents 1.3% of the total project civil work cost and that the optimum CoQ value was estimated to be 1.34% of the total CoQ. Failure costs, on the other hand, were estimated to be .7% of the project cost. 2008 Elsevier Ltd and IPMA. All rights reserved.

Objective: The aim of this paper is to propose a new approach to assess the aggregated impact of risks on the completion cost of a construction project. Such an aggregated impact includes the main impacts of risks as well as the impacts of interactions caused by dependencies among them. Methods: In this study, Monte Carlo simulation and Bayesian Networks methods are combined to present a frame...

Today, the construction industry is facing intense competition and success in this competition depends on several factors. Project managers try to minimize project time and cost, carbon dioxide emission and at the same time maximizing the quality of project and its plan robustness. In this paper, study construction project scheduling considering a discrete trade-off between time, cost, quality,...
